News & Awards:

2009

July 2009 :: Logo Lounge has selected one of Laurie Ryan-Day's logo designs to be included in their next book, "Animals & Mythology." The logo chosen is a cute dog character that she designed for a sole proprietor who creates yard art from recycled metal scraps. With her noted whimsical touches and eye for detail it is an eye-catching mark. This is quite an honor for the designer when the economy has been so slow and work opportunities have dried up. The designer hopes this recognition will spur interest in her work. It should be noted that this will be the second time the designer has had her logo designs selected and published in well-known industry publications. The first book which includes her work, "The Big Book of Logos #5" selected 5 of her logos.

August 2008 :: Laurie Ryan-Day attended the CS3 InDesign Tour in Seattle, Washington sponsored by Kelby Training. "To stay up to date and learn new tips and tricks, I highly recommend taking time out to take one of these classes." The designer, Laurie Ryan-Day, started working with Adobe InDesign in 1999 when version #1 was released and has never looked back. "I have worked with every version of InDesign since it was released and have taken classes every time there is a new updated version. It is my goal to know every part of the application and be very efficient with all that it has to offer. I have taken numerous classes on InDesign over the years and many are taught by the Adobe Certified Experts."

August 2008 :: Laurie Ryan-Day has launched a new website for NW Geotech, www.nwgeotech.com, a small Geotech Engineering firm located in Wilsonville, Oregon. Laurie Ryan-Day, the designer, handled all facets of the process. Web Site Design, Development, Custom Graphics and a good portion of the Photography. The client provided copy and some project images. The website was a complete overhaul and brings the client a professional image that is still getting rave reviews.

June 2008 :: Laurie Ryan-Day attended the Evolve training class on "Dreamweaver Immersion with CSS" located in Seattle, Washington. This was a hands-on, two-day seminar that is beneficial for all levels. Ryan Graphics believes in ongoing education and continuously invests in advancing her design and computer skills to stay competitive in the ever changing design industry. Evolve training offers a variety of computer courses taught by Adobe Certified Pros. While in Seattle, a highlight was a quick trip to the office of Hornall Anderson with an escorted tour by Chris Lowe. An award-winning design firm that does excellent work that I love to admire.

February 2008 :: The Big Book of Logos #5 has been published and can be purchased at your favorite book store. Laurie Ryan-Day was selected as one of the designers to showcase her work among thousands of submissions. David E. Carter, the author, does not place all work that is submitted. So it is quite an honor for me to have some of my professional work accepted. Please see page 352 for 5 of my accepted logos. This is a great resource book for designers and should be part of your library collection.

June 2000 :: Laurie Ryan-Day attended the "HOW" Magazine Graphic Design Convention in Atlanta, Georgia. As a current student they offered a great discount rate and while still employed by Delta Airlines the flight benefits helped to make this an affordable trip. One of my highlights while in Atlanta was a brief visit to Delta Airlines' in-house design department and visiting with the behind the scenes design team.
